Finale Ligure Enduro MTB, Italy
Finale Ligure Enduro MTB, Italy Information
What makes the area unique is the huge variety of trails on a fairly compressed surface, with easy-running fast flowing trails, steep and technical hardcore enduro and everything in between. The ground consists of soil, slate stone, limestone and gravel framed by scrub and pine forests as well as open heathland. Many trails start high up in the mountains above the village and you can, with a little pedalling, ride all the way down to the blue-sparkling Mediterranean Sea and after a dip in the ocean, wrap on a beach bar for the after-bike. Lunch stops are made at personal and charming restaurants and the food makes no disappointment. The simplest pasta here tastes better than home every day of the week.
The top of the Finale Ligure beach is Finale Borgo, a medieval walled city where many cyclists and climbers hang out in the afternoons and evenings. There are several small squares with a relaxed atmosphere. Bike locations outside bars and restaurants are welcome, no one looks oblivious even though you step into dirty and sweaty clothes.
On this trip, we will have three day days with “uplifts” (minibuses with trailers that drive us up the mountains) and local, English-speaking bike guides who can and without the area. It will be down to 90% but sometimes shorter increases will occur. We will customise the sequel to the group but classic like Roller Coaster, Crestino et al. one should not miss.
It’s quite demanding and steep cycling, the whole body gets to work and expect to get tired of both arms, bonfire, back and legs. The days are intense and you have to be in good shape to cope with. The trip is aimed at those who like to go out and want to develop in that area. A stable, helmeted bike with at least 150 mm stroke front and rear is recommended and we recommend using full helmet and full set of protection.
There are good rental bikes on site (you can also rent helmets and back / chest plates) but bring your own, think about having a good set of spare parts and tools. The hotel we live in has a guarded bicycle garage with a small workshop and of course laundry facilities.
After a couple of days in Finale Ligure, the perception of what is possible on a bike often changes. You will definitely come home as a better cyclist and dare to do things at home that you have not previously dreamed of giving up on. And you will want to go back. We ourselves are longing for the next trip!

From Nice there are many transfer options to Finale Ligure, contact us for suggestions and details. In the evening we will bike bicycles or set up any rental bikes and get ready for tomorrow’s cycling.
After a great breakfast, we ride to the place where we meet the guides and bicycle transport. (Here you can also rent bikes). The guides make a brief briefing and then we load the bikes on trailers and get up on some of the mountains above Finale Ligure. We start but an easier step to check the level of the group and then increase the difficulty based on the group’s conditions. In the middle of the day we have a delicious lunch and then we drive another round until around 17:00 before we roll into Final Borgo for a well deserved after bike beer.
We are increasing the pace and today we will drive through some of the area’s classics, maybe Roller Coaster, Fast and Furios, Cro Magnon etc … In the afternoon we will take a joiner closer to the coast and end with a dip in the Mediterranean and a after-bike on any of the beach bars or on the square in Finale Ligure.
Today we are concentrating on driving leaders who are not so well-frequented and it also means a lot of pedalling up. It will be a long ride and have you not been a little tired before, so you’ll learn it today. Of course we eat a good Italian lunch in the middle of the day before we charge for the last day of the afternoon. In the evening we pack together or leave the bikes and get ready to celebrate with a Grand Finale.
We eat breakfast, check out and arrange to meet our transfers back to Nice. Tired but happy, we can look back on some great days in Finale Ligure.

GOOD TO KNOW...
To enjoy the trip you should be an experience singletrack trail rider. It’s about fairly steep cycling with tight curves, compressions, drops, etc. However, the trails are built for cycling and absolutely rideable for the vast majority of people who like this type of MTB run.
It’s the right long runs, and sometimes we get stuck up. In other words, you should be well prepared and well-behaved before the trip. In this context, however, your technical skills are more crucial than cycling far and fast.
27.5 all 29’matched bikes with 150 mm stroke length and upwards front and rear are recommended. There are a number of rental locations in Finale Ligure with suitable bikes. See, for example:
If you take your own bike from home, be sure to include spare parts specific to your bike such as gearbox and brake discs, etc. We also recommend knee and elbow protection, also chest / back plate.
We stay in a mid-range hotel between the beach and Final Borgo. It is a family-run hotel that is bicycle-adapted. Good and safe bike room, hearty breakfasts and friendly staff. Dinner is not included in the price but there are many good restaurants in both Finale Ligure and Finale Borgo.
On the guide and shuttle side we work with Just Ride Finale and their network. The guides keep a very high class and they can go their way up and down. They also look forward to bringing us to really nice and good lunch places.
You can count on daytime temperatures of 15-25 ° C. We will pass some high passes and so it is important to be equipped for cycling in both hot and a little cooler weather.
