BALI TROPICAL ISLAND SINGLETRACK
Bali Island Information
Bali is well known as a tropical paradise for holiday makers seeking the sun and sea, with fantastic white coral sand beaches, palm trees and welcoming, lush interior. But away from the tourist sites, the island is also home to some amazing mountain bike trails. This tour enables you to experience the comfort of renowned Balinese hospitality with the thrills of some of the best riding in South East Asia.
The tour explores the central, northern and eastern parts of Bali. The riding is a mix between cross-country and trail and offers an amazingly eclectic range of riding experiences that will challenge and invigorate a wide palette of biking tastes. Rip down sacred volcanic mountain ridges, flow through bamboo forests, ride along Bali’s famous rice terraces. From the mountain to the sea, this tour enables you to experience Bali’s landscape and experience the true Balinese culture.
Most of the trails have a largely downward profile, but there are enough ascents for climbers to feel satisfied. The trails are best suited to intermediate riders with some technical expertise, but there are enough fast flowy trails to suit those who are relatively new to mountain biking but who can competently handle a bike. As most routes start in the mountains, there are transfers from your hotel to the trail head.
For those not wanting to bring their own bikes, our tour partner, Bali Rides, offers high spec Specialized Epic and Stumpjumper FSR bikes- please ask us for more details. The internationally experienced guides all have great English and a wicked sense of humour, along with many years of hard-earned professional expertise.
This tour can well be combined with a beach or diving holiday, and you might also like to pamper yourself with a Balinese massage at the end of every ride- highly recommended and a true highlight of the tour!

The route starts at 1,700m above sea level on the upper rim of the famous Batur volcano caldera. The upper section follows an exhilarating single track along the caldera ridge through elephant grass and casuarina forests, with the sea on one side and the Batur crater on the other. The rim is single track with some technical downhill sections, and steep but short lung-bursting climbs. The ride traverses to the inner rim of the caldera via steep broken asphalt (the only option) and then follows jeep tracks and a fast, single track section through farming land before ending with a ride on the lava flow resulting from the 1926 and 1968 volcanic eruptions. We finish the day soaking in the hot springs on the side of Batur Lake. There will be a shuttle ride back to Saba and a great home-cooked meal.

GOOD TO KNOW...
Bali almost needs no introduction. It is a holiday makers tropical paradise – white beaches, swaying coconut palms and emerald green rice paddies. But what most tourists don’t realise is that Bali has a fabulous volcanic topography that offers superb mountain biking experiences.
Suiting those riders who like a mix between cross-country and trail, the routes will take you to parts of Bali few tourists get to experience. This tour is best suited to riders who have previous mountain biking experience and have good bike handling skills. You will also need to be relatively fit! Ramang and his team all have excellent English and his Australian wife, Nina, makes sure that Western needs are also catered for on and off the trail (including the best chocolate brownies you have ever eaten).
